| Frome RFC Mini and Junior Section Welcome to the Frome Mini and Junior web pages. Within these pages you will find all of the relevant information about our club and what we offer. The aims of the junior section are to promote and develop the game of rugby within the club and the surrounding community. Junior section chairman Rob Day robday@shutefarm.freeserve.co.uk Frome Mini and Juniors first ran on to the pitch in the 1977 season, with two coaches Tom Berryman and Dick Sparey. On that first Sunday morning they didn't know quite what to expect. With four balls borrowed from Oakfield School they were inundated with seventy boys of all ages eager to emulate the clubs senior player's exploits. Thirty years on we now welcome some 220 boys and girls on a Sunday morning. These young players are supported by a team of 30 qualified coaches. All coaches and club staff have been CRB checked. They are fortunate to have access to 19 acres of grass with 5 pitches and a clubhouse that can boast 13 changing rooms. Each age group has dedicated playing and training resources to help develop the playing skills of both the individual and the team. We now run all age groups from under 7s to 18s in 2007 we introduced a girls under 15s team and now welcome girls from under 7s to under 15s.In September 2008 we are also offering an introduction to the game, for boys and girls who are under 6 this will be for 1 hour on a Sunday morning with a dedicated team of coaches. We meet on Sunday mornings from 10.00 to 12.00 and provide both training and competitive matches for all ages except under 6s. Scrum Down
At Frome we are proud to have seen former and current junior players
go on to represent their district, the county and even national and premiership
teams. Frome under 15 county players 2008 We hope these pages are informative and if you are looking for a club please don't hesitate to contact us or turn up on a Sunday morning for a friendly welcome. Rob Day Paquita Day Junior Section Chairman Child welfare Officer 07973701171 07971519664

PLEASE HELP The Club is wholly run by Volunteers who give their time for the benefit of members. Additional help is always needed, particularly in the Junior / Mini Section. A thriving Youth Section is vital to the future of the Club as well as giving considerable benefit to the Youth of our community. No matter what your talent, there are many ways in which you can help whether on or off the pitch. For example, refereeing, coaching, training, catering, administration, etc. Why not give it a try? Please contact one of the people named in the Club handbook. |
